Heritage Cell

The Heritage Cell under Department of Architectural Conservation at Mohamed Sathak A.J. Academy of Architecture, Anna University was formulated in the year 2019,under the esteemed mentorship of Dr. Nalini Thakur, former Dean of Studies and Professor of Architectural Conservation, SPA New Delhi, and the core faculty of conservation,MSAJAA.

The Heritage Cell aims to sensitize and provide awareness about conservation and restoration of tangible and intangible cultural heritage in the Country.The objective of Cell is to nurture a deeper understanding and appreciation of the region’s heritage . The Cell embodies a collective endeavour to train, document, research, and safeguard the architectural and intangible treasures of the region. The Cell has been organizing heritage walks,Workshops,training programs and exhibitions since its inception, to inculcate awareness about the importance of Cultural Heritage.

Collaborations with esteemed organizations such as the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), C.P. Ramaswami Aiyar Foundation (CPRA), and PRAKRITI Foundation have further strengthened MSAJAA’ mission to preserve Indian heritage.

The Heritage cell members will be involved in creating the database by documenting the folklore, architectural heritage, crafts, material & construction technology.

The members of the Heritage Cell are encouraged to conduct workshops, seminars, exhibitions and heritage walks to create awareness and to conserve the heritage.
